Michael Crandell, CEO and Founder
Michael Crandell is the CEO and a founder of RightScale, where he provides the vision and direction for the company as it pioneers innovative ways to bring the power of cloud computing to any organization. Crandell is a frequent speaker at cloud computing industry conferences, and he has played a major role in helping establish and promote openness and transparency in the cloud market. Prior to RightScale, he served as CEO at several Internet software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies and as executive vice president at eFax.com. Crandell received his B.A. from Stanford University and completed graduate studies at Harvard University.
Thorsten von Eicken, CTO and Founder
Thorsten von Eicken is the chief technology officer (CTO) and a founder of RightScale and is responsible for the overall technology direction of the RightScale cloud management solution. Previously, von Eicken was chief architect at Expertcity (acquired by Citrix Online), where he directed the architecture of the company's online services, including the popular GoToMeeting service. He also managed the Expertcity/Citrix data center operations, where he acquired deep knowledge in deploying and running secure, scalable online services. von Eicken was a professor of computer science at Cornell University and he received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
Ida Kane, CFO
Ida Kane is the chief financial officer (CFO) of RightScale and is responsible for the overall financial strategy of the company. She also directs RightScale's legal and administrative operations. Most recently she served as CFO and SVP of NASDAQ-listed thinkorswim Group Inc., a leading online brokerage and investor education firm, until its sale to TD AMERITRADE. Before thinkorswim she was a divisional CFO and VP of Operations at FranklinCovey. She also held various executive-level financial and operational management positions for other publicly traded and private companies. Kane received her M.B.A. and bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Miami, Florida, and earned her CPA license from the State of Florida.
Josh Fraser, SVP, Sales and Business Development
Josh Fraser is the senior vice president of Sales and Business Development at RightScale, where he is responsible for all sales and business development initiatives. Prior to RightScale, he held executive management positions at public and private companies, including vice president of Business Development at CallWave, a publicly traded provider of SaaS-based unified communications solutions, and general manager at Student Advantage, a leading marketing and transaction services provider to higher education. He also held business development and analyst roles at Starwave/ESPN.com. Fraser holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Villanova University.
Rafael H. Saavedra, VP of Engineering and Founder
Rafael Saavedra is the vice president of Engineering and a founder of RightScale, where he manages the development of the RightScale cloud management solution. Before joining RightScale, Saavedra was director of Software Development at Expertcity (acquired by Citrix Online), where he managed the Applications group and was the release lead of the Expertcity/Citrix GoToMeeting service. Before Citrix Online, Saavedra worked at Tensor Biosciences as vice president of Technology. He was a faculty member in the Computer Sciences Department at the University of Southern California and received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in computer sciences from the University of California, Berkeley.
Dan Moore, VP, Services
Dan Moore is the vice president of Services for RightScale, where he is responsible for ensuring the long-term success of RightScale customers through the delivery of support, consulting, and educational service products. Prior to RightScale, Dan managed service organizations at both startups and major global consulting firms. Most recently, he was vice president of professional services and support at Cast Iron Systems (acquired by IBM) where he oversaw rapid expansion of the client base. Dan previously held management positions at Accenture, Avaya, and Lockheed Martin. He received a B.A. in finance and an M.B.A. with a concentration in decision science, both from the University of Florida.
Bailey Caldwell, VP, Business Development
Bailey Caldwell is the vice president of Business Development at RightScale, where he is responsible for RightScale's partnerships across ISVs, Channels and Clouds. Prior to RightScale, he held executive management positions at public and private companies, including vice president of Operations and Business Development at Persistent Systems, Inc.; vice president of Product, Technology and Services at Paxonix, a SaaS business in the New Ventures Division of Meadwestvaco; Director of Web Operations at Move.com, operator of the world's most popular real-estate related web properties including realtor.com; and Director of Global IT at QAD, Inc. a global provider of ERP software solutions. Caldwell received a B.A. from Boston University
Kim Weins, VP, Marketing
Kim Weins is the vice president of Marketing for RightScale, where she helps build awareness of RightScale and demand for its award-winning cloud management solution. She has held executive marketing positions at a variety of enterprise software startups as well as public software companies. Most recently, as senior vice president of Marketing at OpenLogic, she helped evangelize and drive demand for open source and cloud technologies at large enterprises worldwide. She has also consulted as interim CMO at a variety of high-growth startups and she blogs frequently on lean marketing topics. Weins received a B.S. in engineering from Duke University.
Mary Monaghan, VP, Finance and Administration
Mary Monaghan is vice president of Finance and Administration at RightScale. Previously, she was director of Finance at Expertcity (acquired by Citrix Online), where she managed and grew the finance organization from a staff of one to fifty, as revenues grew from zero to $213M. Prior to her tenure at Expertcity/Citrix, Monaghan held management positions in the financial departments of Computer Motion, Inc., and Wavefront Technologies. Monaghan received a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
