Animoto automatically generates professionally produced videos for its users with its patent-pending technology and high-end motion design. Each video is a fully customized orchestration of user-generated and -selected images and music. Produced in widescreen format, Animoto videos have the visual energy of a music video and the emotional impact of a movie trailer. But to produce such stunning videos, Animoto requires a substantial amount of computer resources, which required that it dynamically scale its computer to keep up with the growing popularity of its application.

Using RightScale and Amazon Web Services (AWS) from the start, Animoto was able to better focus on its area of true innovation: cinematic artificial intelligence. RightScale made it easy for Animoto to get going quickly and inexpensively on AWS using an architecture that included web, application, upload, director and database servers. The service scaled to handle explosive initial demand without a hitch.
