DB SQLS DISABLE SERVER - backup, detach and delete volumes (v13.3)
Published by RightScale on Jan 10, 2013Revision: 26 This component has been superseded. Get the current version here
Description
This script performs full clean backup of all databases (snapshot of data and log volumes or uploads backups of all databases to remote storage), stops the SQL Sever service and then detaches and then deletes the volumes (on AWS it sets delete on termination flag so the volumes will be automatically deleted by the cloud provider). Note that the script requires the DISABLE_SAFETY parameter to be set to "off". Use this script for graceful shutdown of SQL Server instance before actual termination of the server.
