Description
EBS-backed standalone PostgreSQL 8.3 server. We are currently working on a Pgpool-II + streaming replication server template for added reliability.
Setup:
- Add an EBS volume to the server and set it to "attach on boot time".
- List extensions in the
DB_EXTENSIONSinput of the server. Currently PostGIS is supported, enterpostgisto enable it. - Specify the device name of the volume (e.g.
/dev/sdj) at theDB_EBS_DEVICEinput of the server - This device shall contain a PostgreSQL data directory - if it does not exist at boot time, the initialization script will run
initdb. If you have added PostGIS, a GIS-enabled template database with the nametemplate_giswill be created at this point.
You can back up and restore your database with two operational scripts (make sure to set the BACKUP_S3_PATH input).
