Technology

Papertrail provides an Internet-accessible remote syslog destination and one-click installable RightScripts to aggregate all of your server and app logs in seconds.

Use Papertrail's intuitive Web event viewer, command-line tools, and HTTP API to tail and search logs as they happen. Then add time-saving saved searches, flexible system groups, monitoring alerts, long-term archives, charts and analytics exports, and team-wide access (independent of SSH/RDP).

Papertrail supports nearly all log generators including Unix/Linux syslog, text files, Web frameworks (Ruby on Rails, Java/J2EE, PHP, and others), Windows Event Log, MySQL slow query logs, chef/RightLink logs, and most other text data. Use any standard system logger our tiny file-to-syslog collector, all supported with RightScripts.

Papertrail and RightScale make quick work of deployment-wide log aggregation and visibility.

Papertrail authored and supports two RightScripts. One RightScript aggregates Unix/Linux syslog messages. A second RightScript aggregates app log messages from any standalone log files (like Apache access_log, Tomcat tomcat.log, and Ruby on Rails production.log). These are boot-safe, tested with common distributions, and can be installed on dozens of servers at once.
