Riverbed® Stingray™ Traffic Manager is a Layer 7 application delivery controller (ADC) that enables you to create, manage and deliver key services quickly and flexibly. Offering more than load balancing, it controls and optimizes end-user services by inspecting, transforming, prioritizing and routing application traffic. TrafficScript™ can create unique application traffic management rules that can build custom functionality or leverage existing features in Stingray Traffic Manager.

Technology

Stingray Traffic Manager is designed from the ground up to be deployed as software, so it is better suited to development, operations, and cloud needs.

Stingray Traffic Manager inspects and processes application traffic, with full payload inspection and streaming. It applies a range of optimization techniques to ensure that incoming requests are presented in the most appropriate manner to the web and application servers. Responses from the application can be compressed, cached, and returned to the client at optimum speed, while freeing up resources on the server. Built-in TrafficScript™ software allows for full control over how individual requests are optimized, routed, and transformed. Traffic management rules may also be created using Java™ Extensions.

Stingray Traffic Manager includes a web-based administration interface to display powerful real-time analysis and history for all traffic across Traffic Manager clusters. Alternatively, Stingray Traffic Manager integrates into remote management and event monitoring frameworks using Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) APIs and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).

The Stingray Traffic Manager Key features include layer-7 load balancing, Application acceleration, High performance SSL, content caching, request rate shaping, java extensions and various management interfaces.

Stingray Traffic Manager is priced per hour based on bandwidth usage, the volume of SSL transactions processed and general functionality – select ServerTemplates also offer the Stingray Application Firewall which is a sophisticated, application-aware web application firewall for deep application security that can protect against known and unknown attacks at the application layer, secure applications, and meet compliance requirements with confidence.

Starting with the Stingray 500L that offers up to 10 Mbps throughput with 100 SSL TPS right up to the Stingray 2000L + SAF which includes the Application Firewall with 1 Gbps throughput and 10,000 SSL TPS, there is great performance available using Stingray ServerTemplates.
